Video Surgeon 2 stops working when I try to open or download and open an m4V file.

M4V files are may be encrypted or protected-- and if so, Video Surgeon will not be able to open them and that is the reason the program stops working.

To test if this is the problem, open VS and then open a standard file format like an mpeg4, mpeg, AVI, FLV etc and see if it can open one of these files. If so then the M4V file is your likely problem.
