Resetting the default path from the Options Button (and work around if that doesn't work)

Normally you should be able to change the default paths in the Options button of the software

Go to the Options Button >> Paths >> Click the button to the right for the export path >> Select a new path in the dialog (click open at the bottom that dialog).
This will leave the underlying Options button open >> Click OK and it closes.

Now close and open the program again and then check the path in the Options button.

Start by updating. Go to Help >> Check for updates. Once update is complete try the path again. If still an issue
then there is permissions issue of some kind. The easiest work around is this:

Go here, where YOUR USER NAME is your profile name on the computer.

Also in Win 10 this path is likely hidden so do this so you can see this path:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028316/windows-view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-10

C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Song Surgeon 5

Inside this Song Surgeon 5 folder you will find a file named SongSurgeon5.ini. Open this file
in NotePad. Once it opens the paths should be near the top. Here is an example of what you should see:
Simply directly edit the EXPORT path to your new path, the click SAVE in NotePAd to save it.

[Song%20Surgeon%205]
AudioFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/audio
ProjectFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/project
ExportFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Music
SnifferFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/sniffer
TempFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/temp
CrashLogFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/crash_logs
RecordingFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/recording
PlaylistFilePath=C:/Users/toddason/Documents/Song Surgeon 5/playlists

Now open SS and go to the Options button and you should see your new path.
