In VS2 you could only open 1 video in an instance. When you clicked
the + button you were opening a second instance of the program and it
too would allow you to open one video. When you would save a project in
VS2, the project would only contain one video. If you had three
instance open and want to see each of these three videos you would need
to save the video in each open instance with its own project name. For
example video1.vsp, video2.vsp and video3.vsp
You
can do the same thing in VS3 by going to the icon on your task bar,
right cl.icking and selecting "VideoSurgeon3.exe shortcut. This is an
efficient way of doing things and VS3 has a better way.
Once
you open VS3 and load a single video, you can drag a drop (or use the
open button) and add up to 5 videos into this one open instance.
Compare this to VS2 where you could only open 1 video per instance.
Whether
you have 1 video open or 5, when you save a project that project will
contain ALL open videos at the time you save it. That means if you have 5
videos open in VS3 and save as a .vsp, and then re open it will re open
ALL five videos.
Regardless of whether
you have 5 videos open or 1 in the VS window, when you open a project,
it close the existing project (ie. what is open on your screen) and
loads the new project. This is the same as VS2.
Hopefully
that helps you understand the differences between opening multiple
instance in Version 2 and accomplishing the same thing in Version 3.but
only needing to open a single instance (but load it with 5 videos).
